By selling chariots to the kings of the Hittites, Solomon was arming his enemy. The Hittites lived in the parcel of land God had given to Israel (Gen 15:18-21) and Israel were supposed to have driven them out. By making a covenant with them (i.e. to supply them with armaments) he was going against God's strong advice, as you can see here.
"When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly." Deut 7:1-4

1. And when the queen <4436> of Sheba <7614> heard <8085>(8802) of the fame <8088> of Solomon <8010> concerning the name <8034> of the LORD <3068>, she came <935>(8799) to prove <5254>(8763) him with hard questions <2420>.
2. And she came <935>(8799) to Jerusalem <3389> with a very <3966> great <3515> train <2428>, with camels <1581> that bare <5375>(8802) spices <1314>, and very <3966> much <7227> gold <2091>, and precious <3368> stones <68>: and when she was come <935>(8799) to Solomon <8010>, she communed <1696>(8762) with him of all that was in her heart <3824>.
3. And Solomon <8010> told <5046>(8686) her all her questions <1697>: there was not any thing <1697> hid <5956>(8737) from the king <4428>, which he told <5046>(8689) her not.
4. And when the queen <4436> of Sheba <7614> had seen <7200>(8799) all Solomon's <8010> wisdom <2451>, and the house <1004> that he had built <1129>(8804),
5. And the meat <3978> of his table <7979>, and the sitting <4186> of his servants <5650>, and the attendance <4612> of his ministers <8334>(8764), and their apparel <4403>, and his cupbearers <8248>(8688), and his ascent <5930> by which he went up <5927>(8799) unto the house <1004> of the LORD <3068>; there was no more spirit <7307> in her.
6. And she said <559>(8799) to the king <4428>, It was a true <571> report <1697> that I heard <8085>(8804) in mine own land <776> of thy acts <1697> and of thy wisdom <2451>.
7. Howbeit I believed <539>(8689) not the words <1697>, until I came <935>(8804), and mine eyes <5869> had seen <7200>(8799) it: and, behold, the half <2677> was not told <5046>(8717) me: thy wisdom <2451> and prosperity <2896> exceedeth <3254>(8689) the fame <8052> which I heard <8085>(8804).
8. Happy <835> are thy men <582>, happy <835> are these thy servants <5650>, which stand <5975>(8802) continually <8548> before <6440> thee, and that hear <8085>(8802) thy wisdom <2451>.
9. Blessed <1288>(8803) be the LORD <3068> thy God <430>, which delighted <2654>(8804) in thee, to set <5414>(8800) thee on the throne <3678> of Israel <3478>: because the LORD <3068> loved <160> Israel <3478> for ever <5769>, therefore made <7760>(8799) he thee king <4428>, to do <6213>(8800) judgment <4941> and justice <6666>.
10. And she gave <5414>(8799) the king <4428> an hundred <3967> and twenty <6242> talents <3603> of gold <2091>, and of spices <1314> very <3966> great store <7235>(8687), and precious <3368> stones <68>: there came <935>(8804) no more such <1931> abundance <7230> of spices <1314> as these which the queen <4436> of Sheba <7614> gave <5414>(8804) to king <4428> Solomon <8010>.
11. And the navy <590> also of Hiram <2438>, that brought <5375>(8804) gold <2091> from Ophir <211>, brought in <935>(8689) from Ophir <211> great <3966> plenty <7235>(8687) of almug <484> trees <6086>, and precious <3368> stones <68>.
12. And the king <4428> made <6213>(8799) of the almug <484> trees <6086> pillars <4552> for the house <1004> of the LORD <3068>, and for the king's <4428> house <1004>, harps <3658> also and psalteries <5035> for singers <7891>(8802): there came <935>(8804) no such almug <484> trees <6086>, nor were seen <7200>(8738) unto this day <3117>.
13. And king <4428> Solomon <8010> gave <5414>(8804) unto the queen <4436> of Sheba <7614> all her desire <2656>, whatsoever she asked <7592>(8804), beside that which Solomon <8010> gave <5414>(8804) her of his royal <4428> bounty <3027>. So she turned <6437>(8799) and went <3212>(8799) to her own country <776>, she and her servants <5650>.
14. Now the weight <4948> of gold <2091> that came <935>(8804) to Solomon <8010> in one <259> year <8141> was six <8337> hundred <3967> threescore <8346> and six <8337> talents <3603> of gold <2091>,
15. Beside that he had of the merchantmen <582> <8446>(8802), and of the traffick <4536> of the spice merchants <7402>(8802), and of all the kings <4428> of Arabia <6153>, and of the governors <6346> of the country <776>.
16. And king <4428> Solomon <8010> made <6213>(8799) two hundred <3967> targets <6793> of beaten <7820>(8803) gold <2091>: six <8337> hundred <3967> shekels of gold <2091> went <5927>(8686) to one <259> target <6793>.
17. And he made three <7969> hundred <3967> shields <4043> of beaten <7820>(8803) gold <2091>; three <7969> pound <4488> of gold <2091> went <5927>(8686) to one <259> shield <4043>: and the king <4428> put <5414>(8799) them in the house <1004> of the forest <3293> of Lebanon <3844>.
18. Moreover the king <4428> made <6213>(8799) a great <1419> throne <3678> of ivory <8127>, and overlaid <6823>(8762) it with the best <6338>(8716) gold <2091>.
19. The throne <3678> had six <8337> steps <4609>, and the top <7218> of the throne <3678> was round <5696> behind <310>: and there were stays <3027> on either side on the place <4725> of the seat <7675>(8800), and two <8147> lions <738> stood <5975>(8802) beside <681> the stays <3027>.
20. And twelve <8147> <6240> lions <738> stood <5975>(8802) there on the one side and on the other upon the six <8337> steps <4609>: there was not the like <3651> made <6213>(8738) in any kingdom <4467>.
21. And all king <4428> Solomon's <8010> drinking <4945> vessels <3627> were of gold <2091>, and all the vessels <3627> of the house <1004> of the forest <3293> of Lebanon <3844> were of pure <5462>(8803) gold <2091>; none were of silver <3701>: it was nothing <3972> accounted <2803>(8737) of in the days <3117> of Solomon <8010>.
22. For the king <4428> had at sea <3220> a navy <590> of Tharshish <8659> with the navy <590> of Hiram <2438>: once <259> in three <7969> years <8141> came <935>(8799) the navy <590> of Tharshish <8659>, bringing <5375>(8802) gold <2091>, and silver <3701>, ivory <8143>, and apes <6971>, and peacocks <8500>.
23. So king <4428> Solomon <8010> exceeded <1431>(8799) all the kings <4428> of the earth <776> for riches <6239> and for wisdom <2451>.
24. And all the earth <776> sought <1245>(8764) to <6440> Solomon <8010>, to hear <8085>(8800) his wisdom <2451>, which God <430> had put <5414>(8804) in his heart <3820>.
25. And they brought <935>(8688) every man <376> his present <4503>, vessels <3627> of silver <3701>, and vessels <3627> of gold <2091>, and garments <8008>, and armour <5402>, and spices <1314>, horses <5483>, and mules <6505>, a rate <1697> year <8141> by year <8141>.
26. And Solomon <8010> gathered together <622>(8799) chariots <7393> and horsemen <6571>: and he had a thousand <505> and four <702> hundred <3967> chariots <7393>, and twelve <8147> <6240> thousand <505> horsemen <6571>, whom he bestowed <5148>(8686) in the cities <5892> for chariots <7393>, and with the king <4428> at Jerusalem <3389>.
27. And the king <4428> made <5414>(8799) silver <3701> to be in Jerusalem <3389> as stones <68>, and cedars <730> made <5414>(8804) he to be as the sycomore trees <8256> that are in the vale <8219>, for abundance <7230>.
28. And Solomon <8010> had horses <5483> brought <4161> out of Egypt <4714>, and linen yarn <4723>: the king's <4428> merchants <5503>(8802) received <3947>(8799) the linen yarn <4723> at a price <4242>.
29. And a chariot <4818> came up <5927>(8799) and went out <3318>(8799) of Egypt <4714> for six <8337> hundred <3967> shekels of silver <3701>, and an horse <5483> for an hundred <3967> and fifty <2572>: and so for all the kings <4428> of the Hittites <2850>, and for the kings <4428> of Syria <758>, did they bring them out <3318>(8686) by their means <3027>.
Notes that are not verse specific
Yesterday’s and today’s chapters happened several years earlier than the siege of Jerusalem in Zedekiah’s days. In fact today’s incidents are approximately 16 years before the siege; (Jehoiakim reigned 11 yrs, so the 4th year of his reign leaves 7 left; Jehoiachin reigned 3 mths; and the siege started in Zedekiah’s 9th yr
[see 2Kin 25:1]. 7 + 9 = 16.

1. And it came to pass in the fourth <7243> year <8141> of Jehoiakim <3079> the son <1121> of Josiah <2977> king <4428> of Judah <3063>, that this word <1697> came unto Jeremiah <3414> from the LORD <3068>, saying <559>(8800),
2. Take <3947>(8798) thee a roll <4039> of a book <5612>, and write <3789>(8804) therein all the words <1697> that I have spoken <1696>(8765) unto thee against Israel <3478>, and against Judah <3063>, and against all the nations <1471>, from the day <3117> I spake <1696>(8765) unto thee, from the days <3117> of Josiah <2977>, even unto this day <3117>.
3. It may be that the house <1004> of Judah <3063> will hear <8085>(8799) all the evil <7451> which I purpose <2803>(8802) to do <6213>(8800) unto them; that they may return <7725>(8799) every man <376> from his evil <7451> way <1870>; that I may forgive <5545>(8804) their iniquity <5771> and their sin <2403>.
4. Then Jeremiah <3414> called <7121>(8799) Baruch <1263> the son <1121> of Neriah <5374>: and Baruch <1263> wrote <3789>(8799) from the mouth <6310> of Jeremiah <3414> all the words <1697> of the LORD <3068>, which he had spoken <1696>(8765) unto him, upon a roll <4039> of a book <5612>.
5. And Jeremiah <3414> commanded <6680>(8762) Baruch <1263>, saying <559>(8800), I am shut up <6113>(8803); I cannot <3201>(8799) go <935>(8800) into the house <1004> of the LORD <3068>:
6. Therefore go <935>(8804) thou, and read <7121>(8804) in the roll <4039>, which thou hast written <3789>(8804) from my mouth <6310>, the words <1697> of the LORD <3068> in the ears <241> of the people <5971> in the LORD'S <3068> house <1004> upon the fasting <6685> day <3117>: and also thou shalt read <7121>(8799) them in the ears <241> of all Judah <3063> that come out <935>(8802) of their cities <5892>.
7. It may be they will present <5307>(8799) their supplication <8467> before <6440> the LORD <3068>, and will return <7725>(8799) every one <376> from his evil <7451> way <1870>: for great <1419> is the anger <639> and the fury <2534> that the LORD <3068> hath pronounced <1696>(8765) against this people <5971>.
8. And Baruch <1263> the son <1121> of Neriah <5374> did <6213>(8799) according to all that Jeremiah <3414> the prophet <5030> commanded <6680>(8765) him, reading <7121>(8800) in the book <5612> the words <1697> of the LORD <3068> in the LORD'S <3068> house <1004>.
9. And it came to pass in the fifth <2549> year <8141> of Jehoiakim <3079> the son <1121> of Josiah <2977> king <4428> of Judah <3063>, in the ninth <8671> month <2320>, that they proclaimed <7121>(8804) a fast <6685> before <6440> the LORD <3068> to all the people <5971> in Jerusalem <3389>, and to all the people <5971> that came <935>(8802) from the cities <5892> of Judah <3063> unto Jerusalem <3389>.
10. Then read <7121>(8799) Baruch <1263> in the book <5612> the words <1697> of Jeremiah <3414> in the house <1004> of the LORD <3068>, in the chamber <3957> of Gemariah <1587> the son <1121> of Shaphan <8227> the scribe <5608>(8802), in the higher <5945> court <2691>, at the entry <6607> of the new <2319> gate <8179> of the LORD'S <3068> house <1004>, in the ears <241> of all the people <5971>.
11. When Michaiah <4321> the son <1121> of Gemariah <1587>, the son <1121> of Shaphan <8227>, had heard <8085>(8799) out of the book <5612> all the words <1697> of the LORD <3068>,
12. Then he went down <3381>(8799) into the king's <4428> house <1004>, into the scribe's <5608>(8802) chamber <3957>: and, lo, all the princes <8269> sat <3427>(8802) there, even Elishama <476> the scribe <5608>(8802), and Delaiah <1806> the son <1121> of Shemaiah <8098>, and Elnathan <494> the son <1121> of Achbor <5907>, and Gemariah <1587> the son <1121> of Shaphan <8227>, and Zedekiah <6667> the son <1121> of Hananiah <2608>, and all the princes <8269>.
13. Then Michaiah <4321> declared <5046>(8686) unto them all the words <1697> that he had heard <8085>(8804), when Baruch <1263> read <7121>(8800) the book <5612> in the ears <241> of the people <5971>.
14. Therefore all the princes <8269> sent <7971>(8799) Jehudi <3065> the son <1121> of Nethaniah <5418>, the son <1121> of Shelemiah <8018>, the son <1121> of Cushi <3570>, unto Baruch <1263>, saying <559>(8800), Take <3947>(8798) in thine hand <3027> the roll <4039> wherein thou hast read <7121>(8804) in the ears <241> of the people <5971>, and come <3212>(8798). So Baruch <1263> the son <1121> of Neriah <5374> took <3947>(8799) the roll <4039> in his hand <3027>, and came <935>(8799) unto them.
15. And they said <559>(8799) unto him, Sit down <3427>(8798) now, and read <7121>(8798) it in our ears <241>. So Baruch <1263> read <7121>(8799) it in their ears <241>.
16. Now it came to pass, when they had heard <8085>(8800) all the words <1697>, they were afraid <6342>(8804) both <413> one <376> and other <7453>, and said <559>(8799) unto Baruch <1263>, We will surely <5046>(8687) tell <5046>(8686) the king <4428> of all these words <1697>.
17. And they asked <7592>(8804) Baruch <1263>, saying <559>(8800), Tell <5046>(8685) us now, How didst thou write <3789>(8804) all these words <1697> at his mouth <6310>?
18. Then Baruch <1263> answered <559>(8799) them, He pronounced <7121>(8799) all these words <1697> unto me with his mouth <6310>, and I wrote <3789>(8802) them with ink <1773> in the book <5612>.
19. Then said <559>(8799) the princes <8269> unto Baruch <1263>, Go <3212>(8798), hide <5641>(8734) thee, thou and Jeremiah <3414>; and let no man <376> know <3045>(8799) where <375> ye be.
20. And they went in <935>(8799) to the king <4428> into the court <2691>, but they laid up <6485>(8689) the roll <4039> in the chamber <3957> of Elishama <476> the scribe <5608>(8802), and told <5046>(8686) all the words <1697> in the ears <241> of the king <4428>.
21. So the king <4428> sent <7971>(8799) Jehudi <3065> to fetch <3947>(8800) the roll <4039>: and he took <3947>(8799) it out of Elishama <476> the scribe's <5608>(8802) chamber <3957>. And Jehudi <3065> read <7121>(8799) it in the ears <241> of the king <4428>, and in the ears <241> of all the princes <8269> which stood <5975>(8802) beside <5921> the king <4428>.
22. Now the king <4428> sat <3427>(8802) in the winterhouse <1004> <2779> in the ninth <8671> month <2320>: and there was a fire on the hearth <254> burning <1197>(8794) before <6440> him.
23. And it came to pass, that when Jehudi <3065> had read <7121>(8800) three <7969> or four <702> leaves <1817>, he cut <7167>(8799) it with the penknife <8593> <5608>(8802), and cast <7993>(8687) it into the fire <784> that was on the hearth <254>, until all the roll <4039> was consumed <8552>(8800) in the fire <784> that was on the hearth <254>.
24. Yet they were not afraid <6342>(8804), nor rent <7167>(8804) their garments <899>, neither the king <4428>, nor any of his servants <5650> that heard <8085>(8802) all these words <1697>.
25. Nevertheless Elnathan <494> and Delaiah <1806> and Gemariah <1587> had made intercession <6293>(8689) to the king <4428> that he would not burn <8313>(8800) the roll <4039>: but he would not hear <8085>(8804) them.
26. But the king <4428> commanded <6680>(8762) Jerahmeel <3396> the son <1121> of Hammelech <4429>, and Seraiah <8304> the son <1121> of Azriel <5837>, and Shelemiah <8018> the son <1121> of Abdeel <5655>, to take <3947>(8800) Baruch <1263> the scribe <5608>(8802) and Jeremiah <3414> the prophet <5030>: but the LORD <3068> hid <5641>(8686) them.
27. Then the word <1697> of the LORD <3068> came to Jeremiah <3414>, after <310> that the king <4428> had burned <8313>(8800) the roll <4039>, and the words <1697> which Baruch <1263> wrote <3789>(8804) at the mouth <6310> of Jeremiah <3414>, saying <559>(8800),
28. Take <3947>(8798) thee again <7725>(8798) another <312> roll <4039>, and write <3789>(8798) in it all the former <7223> words <1697> that were in the first <7223> roll <4039>, which Jehoiakim <3079> the king <4428> of Judah <3063> hath burned <8313>(8804).
29. And thou shalt say <559>(8799) to Jehoiakim <3079> king <4428> of Judah <3063>, Thus saith <559>(8804) the LORD <3068>; Thou hast burned <8313>(8804) this roll <4039>, saying <559>(8800), Why hast thou written <3789>(8804) therein, saying <559>(8800), The king <4428> of Babylon <894> shall certainly <935>(8800) come <935>(8799) and destroy <7843>(8689) this land <776>, and shall cause to cease <7673>(8689) from thence man <120> and beast <929>?
30. Therefore thus saith <559>(8804) the LORD <3068> of Jehoiakim <3079> king <4428> of Judah <3063>; He shall have none to sit <3427>(8802) upon the throne <3678> of David <1732>: and his dead body <5038> shall be cast out <7993>(8716) in the day <3117> to the heat <2721>, and in the night <3915> to the frost <7140>.
31. And I will punish <6485>(8804) him and his seed <2233> and his servants <5650> for their iniquity <5771>; and I will bring <935>(8689) upon them, and upon the inhabitants <3427>(8802) of Jerusalem <3389>, and upon the men <376> of Judah <3063>, all the evil <7451> that I have pronounced <1696>(8765) against them; but they hearkened <8085>(8804) not.
32. Then took <3947>(8804) Jeremiah <3414> another <312> roll <4039>, and gave <5414>(8799) it to Baruch <1263> the scribe <5608>(8802), the son <1121> of Neriah <5374>; who wrote <3789>(8799) therein from the mouth <6310> of Jeremiah <3414> all the words <1697> of the book <5612> which Jehoiakim <3079> king <4428> of Judah <3063> had burned <8313>(8804) in the fire <784>: and there were added <3254>(8738) besides unto them many <7227> like <1992> words <1697>.

LESSONS FROM BARTIMAEUS
How persistent are you? How persistent are you when it comes to looking for Jesus? Or when it comes to following Jesus? Let's take some lessons from the story of Blind Bartimaeus.
-
Firstly, Bartimaeus threw away any pride or dignity he may have had by calling loudly to Jesus as he passed by. Being blind, Bartimaeus wouldn't have known where Jesus was, so he kept calling out on the off chance that Jesus might hear when he came in earshot.
-
He persisted in calling out even when many people had told him to be quiet. He made a scene and embarrassed himself and others calling for Jesus.
-
Bartimaeus threw away his cloak when he was called by Jesus. Throwing away his cloak showed his faith that Jesus could and would heal. A blind man without a cloak would soon be a dead man.
-
Despite all the obstacles, he followed the voice of Jesus and walked to him in the dark. Bartimaeus took huge risks in doing so - falling, injury, broken bones, a hostile crowd - but the risks were worth it to Bartimaeus.
-
When he was healed, he followed Jesus.
Let us be prepared to lose our dignity, to persist in following Jesus, to value him over all that seems important, and to take whatever risks we need to take to follow him for ever.

6. But <1161> from <575> the beginning <746> of the creation <2937> God <2316> made <4160>(5656) them <846> male <730> and <2532> female <2338>.
7. For this cause <1752> <5127> shall <2641> <0> a man <444> leave <2641>(5692) his <848> father <3962> and <2532> mother <3384>, and <2532> cleave <4347>(5701) to <4314> his <848> wife <1135>;
8. And <2532> they twain <1417> shall be <2071>(5704) one <1519> <3391> flesh <4561>: so then <5620> they are <1526>(5748) no more <3765> twain <1417>, but <235> one <3391> flesh <4561>.
9. What <3739> therefore <3767> God <2316> hath joined together <4801>(5656), let <5563> <0> not <3361> man <444> put asunder <5563>(5720).
10. And <2532> in <1722> the house <3614> his <846> disciples <3101> asked <1905>(5656) him <846> again <3825> of <4012> the same <846> matter.
11. And <2532> he saith <3004>(5719) unto them <846>, Whosoever <1437> shall put away <630>(5661) his <848> wife <1135>, and <2532> marry <1060>(5661) another <243>, committeth adultery <3429>(5736) against <1909> her <846>.
12. And <2532> if <1437> a woman <1135> shall put away <630>(5661) her <848> husband <435>, and <2532> be married <1060>(5686) to another <243>, she committeth adultery <3429>(5736).
13. And <2532> they brought <4374>(5707) young children <3813> to him <846>, that <2443> he should touch <680>(5672) them <846>: and <1161> his disciples <3101> rebuked <2008>(5707) those that brought <4374>(5723) them.
14. But <1161> when Jesus <2424> saw <1492>(5631) it, he was much displeased <23>(5656), and <2532> said <2036>(5627) unto them <846>, Suffer <863>(5628) the little children <3813> to come <2064>(5738) unto <4314> me <3165>, and <2532> forbid <2967>(5720) them <846> not <3361>: for <1063> of such <5108> is <2076>(5748) the kingdom <932> of God <2316>.
15. Verily <281> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, Whosoever <3739> shall <1209> <0> not <3362> receive <1209>(5667) the kingdom <932> of God <2316> as <5613> a little child <3813>, he shall <1525> <0> not <3364> enter <1525>(5632) therein <1519> <846>.
16. And <2532> he took <1723> <0> them <846> up in his arms <1723>(5666), put <5087>(5723) his hands <5495> upon <1909> them <846>, and blessed <2127>(5707) them <846>.
17. And <2532> when he was gone forth <1607>(5740) into <1519> the way <846> <3598>, there came <4370> <0> one <1520> running <4370>(5631), and <2532> kneeled <1120>(5660) to him <846>, and asked <1905>(5707) him <846>, Good <18> Master <1320>, what <5101> shall I do <4160>(5661) that <2443> I may inherit <2816>(5661) eternal <166> life <2222>?
18. And <1161> Jesus <2424> said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, Why <5101> callest thou <3004>(5719) me <3165> good <18>? there is none <3762> good <18> but <1508> one <1520>, that is, God <2316>.
19. Thou knowest <1492>(5758) the commandments <1785>, Do <3431> <0> not <3361> commit adultery <3431>(5661), Do <5407> <0> not <3361> kill <5407>(5661), Do <2813> <0> not <3361> steal <2813>(5661), Do <5576> <0> not <3361> bear false witness <5576>(5661), Defraud <650>(5661) not <3361>, Honour <5091>(5720) thy <4675> father <3962> and <2532> mother <3384>.
20. And <1161> he answered <611>(5679) and said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, Master <1320>, all <3956> these <5023> have I observed <5442>(5668) from <1537> my <3450> youth <3503>.
21. Then <1161> Jesus <2424> beholding <1689>(5660) him <846> loved <25>(5656) him <846>, and <2532> said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, One thing <1520> thou <4671> lackest <5302>(5719): go thy way <5217>(5720), sell <4453>(5657) whatsoever <3745> thou hast <2192>(5719), and <2532> give <1325>(5628) to the poor <4434>, and <2532> thou shalt have <2192>(5692) treasure <2344> in <1722> heaven <3772>: and <2532> come <1204>(5773), take up <142>(5660) the cross <4716>, and follow <190>(5720) me <3427>.
22. And <1161> he was sad <4768>(5660) at <1909> that saying <3056>, and went away <565>(5627) grieved <3076>(5746): for <1063> he had <2192>(5723) <2258>(5713) great <4183> possessions <2933>.
23. And <2532> Jesus <2424> looked round about <4017>(5671), and saith <3004>(5719) unto his <848> disciples <3101>, How <4459> hardly <1423> shall they that have <2192>(5723) riches <5536> enter <1525>(5695) into <1519> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>!
24. And <1161> the disciples <3101> were astonished <2284>(5712) at <1909> his <846> words <3056>. But <1161> Jesus <2424> answereth <611>(5679) again <3825>, and saith <3004>(5719) unto them <846>, Children <5043>, how <4459> hard <1422> is it <2076>(5748) for them that trust <3982>(5756) in <1909> riches <5536> to enter <1525>(5629) into <1519> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>!
25. It is <2076>(5748) easier <2123> for a camel <2574> to go <1525>(5629)(5625) <1330>(5629) through <1223> the eye <5168> of a needle <4476>, than <2228> for a rich man <4145> to enter <1525>(5629) into <1519> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>.
26. And <1161> they were astonished <1605>(5712) out of measure <4057>, saying <3004>(5723) among <4314> themselves <1438>, <2532> Who <5101> then can <1410>(5736) be saved <4982>(5683)?
27. And <1161> Jesus <2424> looking upon <1689>(5660) them <846> saith <3004>(5719), With <3844> men <444> it is impossible <102>, but <235> not <3756> with <3844> God <2316>: for <1063> with <3844> God <2316> all things <3956> are <2076>(5748) possible <1415>.
28. Then <2532> Peter <4074> began <756>(5662) to say <3004>(5721) unto him <846>, Lo <2400>(5628), we <2249> have left <863>(5656) all <3956>, and <2532> have followed <190>(5656) thee <4671>.
29. And <1161> Jesus <2424> answered <611>(5679) and said <2036>(5627), Verily <281> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, There is <2076>(5748) no man <3762> that <3739> hath left <863>(5656) house <3614>, or <2228> brethren <80>, or <2228> sisters <79>, or <2228> father <3962>, or <2228> mother <3384>, or <2228> wife <1135>, or <2228> children <5043>, or <2228> lands <68>, for my <1700> sake <1752>, and <2532> the gospel's <2098>,
30. But <3362> he shall receive <2983>(5632) an hundredfold <1542> now <3568> in <1722> this <5129> time <2540>, houses <3614>, and <2532> brethren <80>, and <2532> sisters <79>, and <2532> mothers <3384>, and <2532> children <5043>, and <2532> lands <68>, with <3326> persecutions <1375>; and <2532> in <1722> the world <165> to come <2064>(5740) eternal <166> life <2222>.
31. But <1161> many <4183> that are first <4413> shall be <2071>(5704) last <2078>; and <2532> the last <2078> first <4413>.
32. And <1161> they were <2258>(5713) in <1722> the way <3598> going up <305>(5723) to <1519> Jerusalem <2414>; and <2532> Jesus <2424> went <2258>(5713) before <4254>(5723) them <846>: and <2532> they were amazed <2284>(5712); and <2532> as they followed <190>(5723), they were afraid <5399>(5711). And <2532> he took <3880>(5631) again <3825> the twelve <1427>, and began <756>(5662) to tell <3004>(5721) them <846> what things should <3195>(5723) happen <4819>(5721) unto him <846>,
33. Saying, <3754> Behold <2400>(5628), we go up <305>(5719) to <1519> Jerusalem <2414>; and <2532> the Son <5207> of man <444> shall be delivered <3860>(5701) unto the chief priests <749>, and <2532> unto the scribes <1122>; and <2532> they shall condemn <2632>(5692) him <846> to death <2288>, and <2532> shall deliver <3860>(5692) him <846> to the Gentiles <1484>:
34. And <2532> they shall mock <1702>(5692) him <846>, and <2532> shall scourge <3146>(5692) him <846>, and <2532> shall spit upon <1716>(5692) him <846>, and <2532> shall kill <615>(5692) him <846>: and <2532> the third <5154> day <2250> he shall rise again <450>(5698).
35. And <2532> James <2385> and <2532> John <2491>, the sons <5207> of Zebedee <2199>, come <4365>(5736) unto him <846>, saying <3004>(5723), Master <1320>, we would <2309>(5719) that <2443> thou shouldest do <4160>(5661) for us <2254> whatsoever <1437> we shall desire <154>(5661).
36. And <1161> he said <2036>(5627) unto them <846>, What <5101> would <2309>(5719) ye that I <3165> should do <4160>(5658) for you <5213>?
37. <1161> They said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, Grant <1325>(5628) unto us <2254> that <2443> we may sit <2523>(5661), one <1520> on <1537> thy <4675> right hand <1188>, and <2532> the other <1520> on <1537> thy <4675> left hand <2176>, in <1722> thy <4675> glory <1391>.
38. But <1161> Jesus <2424> said <2036>(5627) unto them <846>, Ye know <1492>(5758) not <3756> what <5101> ye ask <154>(5731): can ye <1410>(5736) drink <4095>(5629) of the cup <4221> that <3739> I <1473> drink of <4095>(5719)? and <2532> be baptized <907>(5743) with the baptism <908> that <3739> I <1473> am baptized with <907>(5683)?
39. And <1161> they said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, We can <1410>(5736). And <1161> Jesus <2424> said <2036>(5627) unto them <846>, Ye shall <4095> <0> indeed <3303> drink <4095>(5719) of the cup <4221> that <3739> I <1473> drink of <4095>(5695); and <2532> with the baptism <908> that <3739> I <1473> am baptized withal <907>(5743) shall ye be baptized <907>(5701):
40. But <1161> to sit <2523>(5658) on <1537> my <3450> right hand <1188> and <2532> on <1537> my <3450> left hand <2176> is <2076>(5748) not <3756> mine <1699> to give <1325>(5629); but <235> it shall be given to them for whom <3739> it is prepared <2090>(5769).
41. And <2532> when the ten <1176> heard <191>(5660) it, they began <756>(5662) to be much displeased <23>(5721) with <4012> James <2385> and <2532> John <2491>.
42. But <1161> Jesus <2424> called <4341>(5666) them <846> to him, and saith <3004>(5719) unto them <846>, Ye know <1492>(5758) that <3754> they which are accounted <1380>(5723) to rule <757>(5721) over the Gentiles <1484> exercise lordship <2634>(5719) over them <846>; and <2532> their <846> great ones <3173> exercise authority <2715>(5719) upon them <846>.
43. But <1161> so <3779> shall it <2071> <0> not <3756> be <2071>(5704) among <1722> you <5213>: but <235> whosoever <3739> <1437> will <2309>(5725) be <1096>(5635) great <3173> among <1722> you <5213>, shall be <2071>(5704) your <5216> minister <1249>:
44. And <2532> whosoever <3739> <302> of you <5216> will <2309>(5725) be <1096>(5635) the chiefest <4413>, shall be <2071>(5704) servant <1401> of all <3956>.
45. For <1063> even <2532> the Son <5207> of man <444> came <2064>(5627) not <3756> to be ministered unto <1247>(5683), but <235> to minister <1247>(5658), and <2532> to give <1325>(5629) his <848> life <5590> a ransom <3083> for <473> many <4183>.
46. And <2532> they came <2064>(5736) to <1519> Jericho <2410>: and <2532> as he went <1607>(5740) out of <575> Jericho <2410> with <2532> his <846> disciples <3101> and <2532> a great <2425> number of people <3793>, blind <5185> Bartimaeus <924>, the son <5207> of Timaeus <5090>, sat <2521>(5711) by <3844> the highway side <3598> begging <4319>(5723).
47. And <2532> when he heard <191>(5660) that <3754> it was <2076>(5748) Jesus <2424> of Nazareth <3480>, he began <756>(5662) to cry out <2896>(5721), and <2532> say <3004>(5721), Jesus <2424>, thou Son <5207> of David <1138>, have mercy <1653>(5657) on me <3165>.
48. And <2532> many <4183> charged <2008>(5707) him <846> that <2443> he should hold his peace <4623>(5661): but <1161> he cried <2896>(5707) the more <3123> a great deal <4183>, Thou Son <5207> of David <1138>, have mercy <1653>(5657) on me <3165>.
49. And <2532> Jesus <2424> stood still <2476>(5631), and commanded <2036>(5627) him <846> to be called <5455>(5683). And <2532> they call <5455>(5719) the blind man <5185>, saying <3004>(5723) unto him <846>, Be of good comfort <2293>(5720), rise <1453>(5669); he calleth <5455>(5719) thee <4571>.
50. And <1161> he, casting away <577>(5631) his <848> garment <2440>, rose <450>(5631), and came <2064>(5627) to <4314> Jesus <2424>.
51. And <2532> Jesus <2424> answered <611>(5679) and said <3004>(5719) unto him <846>, What <5101> wilt <2309>(5719) thou that I should do <4160>(5661) unto thee <4671>? <1161> The blind man <5185> said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, Lord <4462>, that <2443> I might receive my sight <308>(5661).
52. And <1161> Jesus <2424> said <2036>(5627) unto him <846>, Go thy way <5217>(5720); thy <4675> faith <4102> hath made <4982> <0> thee <4571> whole <4982>(5758). And <2532> immediately <2112> he received his sight <308>(5656), and <2532> followed <190>(5707) Jesus <2424> in <1722> the way <3598>.
